More Dr Bike sessions than ever before

Bike WeekThere were an unprecedented number of Dr Bike sessions in Westminster this summer. The councils of Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster and Camden worked alongside the Royal Parks, British Waterways, the Metropolitan Police, the CTC and the LCC groups in the three boroughs to provide these sessions. About 500 people had their bikes checked and were given cycling information.

Dr Bike Venues included Hyde Park Corner (above) and Kensington Gardens (below).

Admiralty Arch: the final solution?

Admiralty Arch, October 2008When cycle lanes were first introduced through Admiralty Arch in October 2008, motor vehicles continued to pass through two abreast, blocking the eastbound cycle lane. The Royal Parks put up a sign and put down traffic cones in an attempt to persuade motorists to drive through in single file, but to no avail.

Admiralty Arch, June 2009The Royal Parks have now put up thin reflective posts to separate the cycle lane from other traffic. As the second photo shows, these appear to be working and have been well received by cyclists.
