A series of barriers has now been removed from a canalside path.
The barriers used to stand along the path above the Regent's Canal to the north side of the Lisson Green Estate. They were an obstacle for most cyclists, though a minority used to enjoy the challenge of riding around them.
At about the same time, the drainage and lanscaping were improved on the towing-path under and next to the bridges carrying the railways to/from Marylebone and Baker Street. The environment here had been uninviting for both pedestrians and cyclists.
Both these small projects were undertaken as part of TflL's London Greenways project. They enhance a useful cycle route between Lisson Grove and the canal around the north side of Regent's Park. Access to/from Lisson Grove was recently improved by installing a signal-controlled cycle crossing to/from Orchardson Street.
