Cycle parking hoops introduced in Westminster
A cycle parking hoop in Upper St Martin's Lane
A number of cycle parking hoops have recently appeared on posts in
Westminster's Covent Garden area.
The main benefits of these hoops are:
- They can be installed in places where the street is too narrow for conventional
cycle parking stands - of which there are many in Covent Garden.
- Bikes can be parked more securely than if they are simply locked to posts,
when they can easily slip down onto the ground or rotate around the post.
- Both wheels of a standard bicycle can be locked to the hoop, if required.
- They make maximum use of existing posts, removing the need for further street
furniture.
