The Royal Parks are making a number of small improvements to the cycle routes
through their parks:
The Broad Walk, Regent's Park, part of which has been resurfaced.
In Regent's Park, the northern section of the Broad Walk has been resurfaced.
In Hyde Park, the Royal Parks have obtained funding to develop and install
a permanent shared-use path for pedestrians and cyclists
adjacent to the North Carriage Drive. This will be particularly useful when
the road is closed for various events - including the Olympics.
In Kensington Gardens, the Royal Parks are planning to improve the layout of the
Mount Gate entrance from the West Carriage Drive, near the Serpentine Gallery.
The aim is to reduce the risk of
collision between east-west cyclists, north-south cyclists and pedestrians.
In St James's Park, consultants are to draw up plans for reconfiguring the junction
of Horse Guards Road with Birdcage Walk / Storey's Gate, 'to improve circulation and safety
for cyclists and pedestrians'.
