Westminster cyclists have proposed the Bayswater Road as a candidate for the LCC's campaign Going Dutch.
The LCC asked its members: if there were one thing that Boris Johnson, Ken Livingstone and the other mayoral candidates should do to promote cycling in London over the next mayoral term, what would it be?
Nearly 1000 members voted that the major campaign should be Go Dutch: clear space on main roads for cyclists.
We have suggested the Bayswater Road as a good candidate to go Dutch. At present, many cyclists resort to illegal cycling along the footway past the Lancaster Gate gyratory system. Going Dutch would make it far easier to cycle legally. But it doesn't necessarily mean driving on the right, installing a tramway... or wearing clogs.
Saturday 3rd December 2011 10am-3pm.
There will be a programme of three or four workshops to provide information on campaigning, politics, PR and the technical background.
